Nice vid.
Haha - have driven past many times, always assumed this one was just a wombat hole!

And a GC there, cool!
I wonder about the legitimacy, considering it would be private land (maybe not though).
Have often wondered about hiding a CG in some of the more interesting drains!

From memory, there are another one or two larger ones visible from the road (on Gorge rd as well, I think) that appear be sealed with bars.
Could be another road in the hills there though, Has been a good 10 years since I've been up that way. Definitely one of the main twisty ones leading down to the foothills.

Cheers.

I thought it was the rock-blasted pipe-carrier tunnel. You can squeeze in one end of it (you could in 2008) but the other end is locked with no gaps big enough to get through. Can't remember which section of the road it was on, but wasn't difficult to spot.

This is the one I was thinking of:

(Not my pic)

Could be part of the same system?
But AFAIK there were a few different mines in that area.

That might be the other end of the one I'm thinking of as well, Nuggs. I didn't know there were others though.

Those iron gates, are just to stop us getting near the big water pipe (coming from the reservoir).

There's 2 gates for sure (1 on each side of hill), but locked. Probably owned by SA Water or whatever it's called these days!

In fact, everywhere you go up there, there's SA Water signs about!

Then again, there's a lot of water up there, so it sort of balances itself out!

Get the feeling (viewing video), that the hole was a lot larger, but once Gorge Road was resurfaced to it's modern finish, there would have been lots of rocks/soil/dirt, and I'm guessing they planned to fill it it, but didn't quite do it. And as the entrance leads downhill very quickly, then goes nice and level, I'd say that was the plan.

Supposed to be some more. But I might have a shot at it!

But I think I'll wait till daylight to try that one out, as that road is spooky at best of times!

Anyone explored it, appears to be quite a good size.

Hey Mate, I haven't explored this particular section of underground myself but it is rumored that Monks use to live in this cave man y many years ago. I have no proof of this but have been told this by many people and it's also been suggested that such people as "Shadow People" use to and still possibly do rome the hills of Adelaide.

I am very inclined to explore the cave as there is also a Geocache inside.

Please hit me up if you hear anything else in relation the cave.

Thanks

Hey Guys!

I've been down there quite a few times. Until just a while ago, it used to go on for quite a way - but it's since caved in, or been collapsed.

When you get inside, it opens into a chamber where you can pretty much stand, and continues off into a few smaller corridors on either side.

I've also heard the rumour about the Monks, but I doubt it's true. However, it is more likely to have been used by Bevan von Einem, when the man was killed at the dam. I interviewed some people that were once close to von Einem for a book I'm writing, and they admitted to using tunnels and drains for transport and storage, however didn't seem to admit to this one specifically.

For those of you chasing after the geo-cache, unfortunately, you'll probably find it missing, just as I did.

Please feel free to message me if you want to have a look.

Fair enough. They seemed to get moved a fair bit.. It's kind of annoying.

There's also another really good cache at the top of the mountain underneath the wire mesh.
It's a fairly difficult climb, but it's a secret cache. Makes it worth it.

The one I'm talking about is probably 3 or 4 kms down the road. It's on the top of a huge mountain. It's probably 50 - 60 metres high, under cyclone mesh.
It's quite difficult to find, and it's not logged on any cache websites. It's kind of just a word-of-mouth cache.

The one in the cave definitely wasn't there when I was there last.
